Practical 10!

Using a metaphor, to describe the EIR lessons. For me, I would use an area of land. A land can be useful when the people who has it, worked hard to create a building, a home and many more, however if the people who does not cherish it, the land will never be something accomplised. just like EIR lessons, the students are the people who has it, if they do not worked hard for the lessons, they will never remember or learn anything from EIR.

My research topic, Impact of Alcoholism on Youth. A short paragraph to say my findings would be easy. Firstly, there has been an increasing trend in youth drinking and causing accidents, some leading to death. It is something that is serious and the problem is that although it can be prevented, people does not seems to try to do anything. To start the prevention of problems, we must first let the teenagers, people who are the one involves, to understand the danger, the pain that they inflict around them. If we do not do something like that, we may never stop this problem. Also, we have to let parents know, as from case studies, some of the death that was caused by alcoholism, was due to parents buying the alcohol and as such start off the whole issue.

Tutorial 3&4

a. How has Twitter (micro-blogging) enhanced your learning of EIR? Compare this with your blogging experience using Blogspot.

Twitter is somewhat useful, due to the fact that only 140 characters can be used, learning HAVE to be done within a limited amount and as such we can learn the main points which i think is useful in remembering because we tend to remember only these few words, and as such having twitter do help in the learning. Blogging is more of a reflection that we do after the lesson, so there is really differences, however the differences is that blog can be used for the whole thing whereas for twitter only main points are used, therefore learning may be more efficient in twitter.

b. How can you use Twitter and Blogspot for research purposes?

The fact that people view Twitter and blogspot, when we ask questions on Twitter and Blogspot we can have answers back, and as such these become our research tools therefore i think that YES, we can use Twitter and Blogspot for research purposes.

Tutorial 5&6

What is the significant learning experience for your group?

The significant learning experience is to learn the effects of homosexuals websites being posted on websites. Learning the downside of homosexuals that people keep trying to keep it going so as to ban this group of people just because they are a little different from us. The people that view themselves as "normal" and "complete". This is a very significant learning experience.

As an individual contributor, what have you gained from this experience?

I have learn that to find information on homosexuals are not that hard, as they are all over the web, trying to have their legal rights. Learning the fact that the insults thrown to them are alot, and they are really very strong for standing up for their rights even though it is very hard, i gained the knowledge and i know that sometimes in life, there are things that you have to do, no matter how hard the journey goes, one have to walk it and it will help if we all come together.

What is the one most challenging experience you had?

The most challening experience I had was to compile the work into a paragraph which was to showcase the effects, I cannot seem to get it all together, as there are quite a lot of different attacks, and also different websites, so I had to take a long time to make sure that I can do well in this by making sure I do not make any mistakes here and there.

What advice would you give to the next batch wiki groups as they start a similar project?

My advice to them would be spending more time on research, and ensuring that there is a flow to their work, so as they will not get all mixed up. Also, it helps by coming together with those that are doing the same part of work, so that you will not do what they are doing, so as to avoid any conflict inbetween.

Would you use Wiki for research in your own Diplomas? Why?

I may not use, as I found that there are a lot of problems with Wiki, for example, when there are too many people coming together to do, the website would not be able to support and as such not allow entry for some, also when saving work, time to time it will not save, and i have to restart my work which is a really waste of time, so until these problems are fixed, I doubt I would use Wiki.

Tutorial 1&2

1. How do you feel about posting your views on the topic posted on OLE Online Discussion Forum? Can you express your views freely?

I feel that by posting my views on the forum, its as though expressions my thoughts, without having to face the criticism of others that view my thoughts as something bad. Thus by able to post my views, i believe that it is done freely, and people do not have any rights to complain, as it is posted, they will only have to accept it, so i think that it is a rather interesting way of discussion.

2. How does this online discussion experience compared with traditional face-to-face in-class discussions?

The experience is very interesting and worth, because i can have my views posted without the fact of being against of, and being looked down or anything that may have a down effect on me, which is why i think that online discussion could be a big hit in the following future, as many people do not really have the guts to talk face-to-face whenever in a group, there will always those people who will be outshined by those that talk more, however by online discussion i am sure that it is easier for people to type what they feel. Thus to compare, i would say that online discussion has a better results.
3. Do you find this online activity meaningful? Why?

Yes, i find this activity very meaningful, as it is my first time doing such an activity, where i can just stay at home and do my homework finish, also i can connect with people that i am not close with, or hardly know and to share a common view on something would be interesting as it would interest both side to think that since we have a same thinking, we could be friends.
